Funding your Trust: Untitled Personal Property

After your Trust is signed, you must take steps to fund it with your Trust Property.  If you do not fund the Trust with your Trust Property, the Trust may not be effective, and your estate may have to go through probate upon your death.

You can transfer personal property without a title document (furniture, books, jewelry, tools, collectibles, and similar items) with a simple assignment of ownership document.  Your Trust Funding Guide will include a sample assignment that you can use to fund these assets into your Islamic Trust.

If you wish to transfer some, but not all, personal property, or if you have specific gifts or valuable collector items, you could use the following format:

I, _____(Name)______, hereby assign all of my right, title, and interest in and to (describe the item or items of property), to the _____(Name)______ Living Trust.

It is important to adequately describe the property, so that there is no doubt about its identity.
